During this current period of school closure, we are now pleased to be able to offer eligible parents and pupils access to free school meals by supplying supermarket eGift cards, that can be spent locally to you. The DfE have funded these eGift cards as part of a national scheme. You will be able to choose which supermarket you would like an eGift card for including Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, Tesco and more.
Eligible families will be receiving their eCode via email w/c 25th January 2021 to provide lunch time meals for three weeks until half term.
eCodes can be redeemed online for an eGift card for the supermarket of your choice by visiting www.freeschoolmeals.co.uk. You can also find more details and FAQs here. eGift cards can then be used in your chosen supermarket for multiple transactions and on multiple visits, until you have spent the full value of the eGift card.
If you do not receive an eCode you are expecting (and you are certain that your child is eligible for free school meals) please check your SPAM/Junk email folders. Orders will be fulfilled by a company called Edenred, so please look out for this name. The DfE have explained that due to high demand, there can be a delay between school ordering the eCodes and them being emailed to parents/carers.
If you have successfully redeemed an eCode, but have queries about your eGift Card (for example, you haven’t received it within 24 hours of ordering it at www.freeschoolmeals.co.uk) then please contact Edenred by email at firstname.lastname@example.org and Edenred can look into this for you. If you do need to contact school regarding free school meals, then please do so by emailing our enquiry@ email address.
If you need to check your child’s eligibility for free school meals, or claim for more than one child, please do so by going on to the following website: cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/birmingham. If your application is successful, school will not be able to provide an eCode until we receive notification of your successful application. We are unable to provide any back-dated eCodes.
Thank you for your continued support at this challenging time.
Please note: the launch of this voucher scheme means that food parcels issued w/c 18th January will be the last food parcels provided at this time.
The above information is for any parent who has a child eligible for Free School Meals (not including those eligible for the Universal meal offer for EYFS/Key Stage 1).
